Accessing Circulars From Your Own Site

Follow the guidelines below to include pointers from your own Web site to any IAU Circular or Minor Planet Electronic Circular. You should include a link from any of your Web pages that reference circulars to this WWW policy statement.

Accessing IAUCs

NOTE: As of 2004 Nov. 9, the trial free distribution of IAUCs via the Web has been suspended. Until such time as this facility is restored, the instructions below will not work for non-subscribers and subscribers will have to enter their username and password once per session (unless they have access via IP address).

All IAUCs are stored in directories under http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/. Individual IAUCs are stored in subdirectories based on the circular number, generally one hundred circulars in each subdirectory. The first subdirectory is 00000 and contains IAUC 1 to 99; the second directory is 00100 and contains IAUC 100 to 199; . . .; directory 04300 contains IAUC 4300 to 4399; etc.

Examples

To access you would point to
 IAUC
    1 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/00000/00001.html
   20 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/00000/00020.html
  255 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/00200/00255.html
 1686 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/01600/01686.html
 4000 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/04000/04000.html
10000 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/10000/10000.html

Once you point to any IAUC, access to surrounding circulars is possible using the on-screen controls. Any MPECs or other IAUCs referenced in the body of the displayed IAUC are accessible via hypertext links, e-mail addresses have been converted to mailto: links and active links to any imbedded ftp and http URLs are available (we cannot take responsibility for any URLs that are no longer active!).

Not all issued IAUCs are currently accessible-- work is progressing on making all circulars available in electronic form. However, as long as you point to a valid address (based on the guidelines above) a Web page will be returned for every issued IAUC number.

Accessing MPECs

All MPECs are stored in directories under http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/. Individual MPECs are stored in subdirectories based on the year of issue, with filenames based on a packed form of the circular number. The year-subdirectories are: J93, for MPECs issued in 1993; J94, for those issued in 1994; etc.

Examples

To access you would point to
  MPEC
1993-S01 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/J93/J93S01.html
1994-D09 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/J94/J94D09.html
1995-Y03 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/J95/J95Y03.html
1996-K17 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/J96/J96K17.html
2000-A01 http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/K00/K00A01.html
Once you point to any MPEC, access to surrounding circulars is possible using the on-screen controls. Any IAUCs or other MPECs referenced in the body of the displayed MPEC are accessible via hypertext links, e-mail addresses have been converted to mailto: links and active links to any imbedded ftp and http URLs are available (we cannot take responsibility for any URLs that are no longer active!).

All issued MPECs are available in electronic form.
